Street art is generally described as a form of the artwork displayed in public on surrounding buildings, on streets, trains, and other publicly viewed surfaces. When this youth culture is applied on walls or barriers, it can be called a “mural”.
Vienna is full of impressive street arts, and many of them you can find it at the Danube Canal. The City of Vienna supports the diversity of artistic forms of expression, therefore this youth culture also finds its place in this city.
As part of the WienerWand project, the City of Vienna is offering young artists from the graffiti scene legal spaces.
“The WienerWand project, with the installation of new legal graffiti walls, is intended to support this artistic practice and promote dialogue between writers and the public. We are convinced that tolerance and a discussion supported by all sides is the better way. ” – it’s said on their web site.
Everything is possible to discover this art scene. Whether alone or accompanied, on foot, by bike or from the water, on your own or with a tour guide.
