It has been 70 years since the movie “The 3rd Man” was released in Austria. In 1999, the British Film Institute voted “The Third Man” the greatest British film of 20th century.
It tells the story of a life and the atmosphere in post-war Vienna, at the start of the Cold War. There was almost nothing left from the imperial city, that turned in to a hub of international espionage.
George Orson Welles, an American actor considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, played the role of Harry Lime. Joseph Cotton, one of the leading Hollywood actors of the 1940s, appeared also in the film, playing the Holly Martins.
